THE HIDDEN DANGERS OF A 1-HOUR WEDDING PACKAGE
(Hint: It’s Chaos)
Hi Elena, I’m looking for a photographer for our wedding ceremony. I really love your style, but I couldn’t find a suitable package on your website. We don’t need a full two-hour shoot—one hour would be enough. Could you send me a quote?
I get such requests from time to time, and now I would like to explain why—for the love of all love on earth! —I don’t offer 1-hour wedding shoots.
It all starts with your wedding ceremony. According to the guidelines from the Danish authorities and/or your wedding planner, you are required to arrive at the Town Hall (or wherever your ceremony is taking place) at least 15 minutes before your scheduled time — ideally, 20 minutes. During this period, you must stay close to the City Hall staff, as they may call you in at any moment. Or… they may not. Delays happen, especially in popular locations like Copenhagen City Hall, where waiting an extra 15 minutes is not uncommon.
Now, let’s break this down:
You arrive 15–20 minutes early.
You might have to wait another 15 minutes.
That’s already 30–35 minutes gone—before your ceremony even begins.
And during this entire time, you cannot step away to take pictures on the beautiful staircase or pose on the balcony adorned with Danish flags—the ones you’ve seen on Instagram and dreamed of capturing in your wedding photos.
Speaking of dreams—let’s talk about outfits. Do you have a long princess gown? High heels? A perfectly tailored suit? Wonderful! It’s your special day, and you should look and feel amazing. But after the ceremony, reality kicks in:
You walk out of the marriage registration room, check the time, and realize you only have 30 minutes left for your photoshoot (if you’re lucky).
Where do you go? The grand staircase? The balcony? The City Hall library? The inner courtyard with the fountain? Or should you skip City Hall altogether and rush to the heart of Copenhagen?
Your elegant heels are suddenly uncomfortable, your flawless makeup starts to melt, your fitted suit isn’t as easy to move in as you thought—and on top of that, you’re juggling your bag, outerwear, and your marriage certificate.
The clock keeps ticking. 30 minutes turn into 20 minutes.
And here’s the thing: taking beautiful wedding photos isn’t just about pressing a button.
A good photographer will:
✅ Find the perfect lighting for you.
✅ Help you relax with a few jokes and words of encouragement.
✅ Guide you into natural, flattering poses—because no one wants to look stiff or awkward in their wedding pictures.
But by the time we get there, your session is almost over.
Is this how you want to remember one of the most meaningful days of your life? Rushing around, checking the clock, running in heels, feeling stressed—and ending up with photos where you look more exhausted than radiant?
With over 10 years of experience in wedding photography and videography, I made the decision long ago to never offer 1-hour wedding shoots. I deeply respect and appreciate every couple who reaches out to me, and I genuinely want to give you flawless results.
I care about your comfort. I want you to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime day, not feel overwhelmed by stress. My goal is for your wedding photos to be a cherished reminder of the moment you said “YES” to each other in Denmark—for years and years to come.
